BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It was a soggy start to the school year on Tuesday morning after a summer in which parts of Branch County had to endure moderate drought conditions.
The M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater measured just under two inches of rain (1.92) between 3:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.. That included 1.42 inches between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m..
Reports from National Weather Service observers showed over three inches of rain fell in parts of Eaton County while two-and-a-quarter inches of rain was measured at Parma and near Lansing.
Parts of Branch County have gotten over three inches of rain since August 29 after only about a half inch of rain had been measured at the M.S.U. Extension Service weather station between August 4 and 28.
