OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Ovid Township voters will get a chance during the November 3, 2020 General Election to decide if they want recreational marijuana establishments in the township.
A petition to replace the township ordinance prohibiting marijuana establishments that was adopted by the Township Board in February 2019 has been filed and a resolution was adopted during the August township board meeting.
It was stated on the township’s web site that the Ovid Township Board neither condones nor opposes this petition.
The Adult-Use Marijuana Establishments Ordinance would authorize two marijuana retail establishments within Ovid Township pursuant to the Michigan Regulations and Taxation of Marijuana Act.
It would include provisions for the incidental licensing fees, application criteria, and operational regulations.
This ordinance would supersede, repeal, and replace those portions of the Ovid Township Prohibition of Marijuana Establishments Ordinance adopted on February 11, 2019, as well as any other ordinances or parts of ordinances, that are in conflict with this proposed ordinance.
