COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Organizers of the Annual Smith Thank You Concert at the Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater announced this week they would be postponing the September event due to the continued COVID-19 restrictions in Michigan on theatres and indoor gatherings.
Diane Pridgeon, who is the organizer of the annual benefit concert, hopes to reschedule the event when audiences are able to gather once again in the theatre and it’s easier for the guest artists to travel and perform safely.
Pridgeon says they hope to do something in the spring and really envision this type of concert happening in the fall, winter and spring season as a special concert/lecture series; with only the fall one presented as a benefit concert.
She added, “With many institutions of higher learning within 60 miles, the theatre is perfect for young talent to showcase their work.”
Each year Pridgeon and her sister Susanne Smith Wise present a concert and dedicate the proceeds to a local non-profit.
Originally organized to celebrate the lives of Pridgeon and Wise’s father and two brothers, Robert, Douglas and Dean Smith, the concert became a way to do something to give back to their community.
