COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater is planning to hold its annual Haunted Forest on October 15, 16 and 17 at Rotary Park.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his report for Monday’s City Council meeting that plans are underway to make this a safe family event following the State’s COVID-19 safety guidelines.
The Coldwater Recreation Department will be putting on the event. Admission will be $5 per person.
There will be a “Less Scary” Haunted Forest each night between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with the scarier version between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m..
Last year’s Haunted Forest was cancelled due to the concerns over mosquitos carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recommended to local officials last year that they consider postponing, rescheduling or canceling outdoor activities that were held at or after dusk due to the potential risk of exposure to EEE.
They are taking the same steps this year in the nine counties where there have been reports of horses with EEE which includes Barry and Jackson Counties. No human cases have been reported yet.
