STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – A Steuben County man was arrested on eight felony counts Monday as part of a Indiana State Police investigation into alleged child pornography.
Detectives with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested 38-year-old Joseph McDowell on two counts of child exploitation, five counts of possession of child pornography and a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon a weapons offense.
The investigation began in late July when the Indiana State Police received a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The tip ultimately led to a search warrant being served on a residence in the 4000 block of North County Road 450 West near Angola by the State Police with assistance from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.
McDowell was transported to the Steuben County Jail to await an initial hearing.
