QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The future of the Ridge Road property where the former Village of Quincy transfer station was located is up in the air following Tuesday night’s Village Council meeting.
The only bid to purchase the land that was submitted by Brock Badders Property LLC was not approved as a vote by the Village Council ended in a 3-3 tie.
Village Manager Brittany Butler was told by the Council to research different options before bringing the matter back to them next month.
Republic Waste Services used to operate the Quincy transfer station before it closed on September 3.
Republic began operating a transfer station on Treat Road just off of Garfield in Coldwater on September 5. It’s only open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon.
The Village Council approved a request from Butler in June to close the 37 acre transfer station because it has only generated about $3,000 in revenue for the village over the last couple of years. She said at the time it was not enough money to cover their costs.
A market analysis was done on the property which came back as just over $142,000.
The property is currently zoned commercial. It used to be a landfill before it was capped in 2002.
