HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – After winning a close Republican Primary last month, Scott Hodshire is scheduled to be sworn in Monday afternoon as the new Sheriff of Hillsdale County.
The Hillsdale Daily News reports Hodshire was appointed Monday by a three person statutory committee to serve out the term of former Sheriff Tim Parker whose retirement took effect three days after the Primary.
Parker’s term expires on December 31, 2020.
The Daily News reports Parker said in his retirement letter to the committee that he did not want to be a lame duck. Parker also said whoever won the Primary should be appointed Sheriff.
Undersheriff Carl Albright has run the Sheriff’s Office since Parker retired.
Albright was second in the Republican Primary for Sheriff as he lost to Hodshire 3,590 to 3,312.
Nate Lambright will serve as Hodshire’s Undersheriff.
In another twist, the Daily News reports Hodshire is unopposed in the November election after Democratic candidate Wes Ludeker dropped out of the race due to health concerns.
