COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Miner told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that they are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation.
With equipment having been or being distributed to fight the spread of the virus, Miner said they have no significant coronavirus concerns at this time.
He reported personal protection equipment is “solid” at this point and schools will be getting shipments from the federal government to reinforce masks supplies. In addition, all skilled nursing facilities and adult foster care homes will be getting Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card tests which Miner says will increase testing capabilities.
Miner noted there has been an increase in recent Branch County COVID-19 cases.
Over 100 have been reported by the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency since August 26 after the state mandated testing on all agricultural and migrant workers.
According to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency, no new cases were reported on Wednesday in Branch County where 500 cases have been reported since last March.
Commissioner Terri Norris asked County Administrator Bud Norman to have a representative from the C.H.A. attend next Tuesday’s Commissioners meeting to answer questions about the recent increase in Branch County COVID-19 cases.
