QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – It was a busy Monday afternoon of Big Eight Conference high school cross country meets.
Quincy swept Reading by scores of 20-37 in the boys meet and 20-43 in the girls meet. Quincy took the top three spots in the boys race led by Erik Butchart who won in a time of 17:18.8. He was followed by Rhett Reif and Jacob Reif in second and third.
Reading’s Margaret Steele won the girls race. Quincy took second through eighth led by Avery Rufenacht in the runner up position. She was followed by Sadie Miller, Grace Lindsley, Elise Wright, Mollie Butchart, Abigail Harmon and Libby Butchart.
Bronson split their home dual meet with Concord. Concord won the boys meet 27-30 while Bronson won the girls race 24-31. Ashton Wells was the top finisher for the Bronson boys as he was fourth followed in fifth through ninth places by Luis Ortiz, Aden Hathaway, Reagan Mayer, Brayden Ransbottom and Ben Thomas Grate.
The Bronson girls were led by Sidney Swick who was second. Grace Welch was third and Jenna Salek was fourth. Abby Ware finished seventh and Danis Silva was eighth.
Jonesville defeated Union City in the boys meet 15-44. The Comets also won the girls meet as the Chargers did not have enough runners for a team score. Union City’s Hunter Sinke was sixth in the boys race followed by Ryan Millirans and William Wallen.
Amelia June was tenth for Union City in the girls race.
