COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The contractor for the North Monroe Street project has decided to perform the work next Spring.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker said during Wednesday’s Downtown Development Authority meeting that the six week project would start next week. He says the City was informed late last week that work would begin on North Monroe the week of September 28.
But Baker got word after the D.D.A. meeting that the contractor would be requesting permission to delay the start of the work until Spring 2021 so as to not potentially get too far into colder weather and end up not being able to finish or pave.
Baker says this will ensure a better final product in the long run.
The work would involve water and sewer mains and the reconstruction of North Monroe between U.S. 12 and Grand. Once the works get underway, through traffic will be closed but there will be access to area businesses.
The project was originally scheduled to start in late July.
