COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A consultant has been hired by Branch County “to provide on-site review, study and recommendations for operations and staffing of the Branch 911 Center.”
Following an executive session last Tuesday, the Branch County Board of Commissioners voted to amend the meeting agenda “Consulting Services Agreement” with IXP Corporation.
They then suspended the Board Rules precluding action being taken on the item.
According to the meeting minutes that were published on the county’s web site, time did not permit the matter being included on the Agenda as 911 Director Kurt Spalding just submitted his notice of retirement “creating an opportunity for outside study and recommendations.”
Spalding’s retirement was announced on September 18 with the Commissioners meeting taking place four days later.
The minutes also showed that Commissioners then approved a contract for consulting services offered by IXP Corporation “to review on site operational practices and develop a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners for potential changes in operations, use of technology, employee training and employee scheduling.”
Both actions were approved on 5-0 votes.
Spalding is retiring after 35 years of service to Branch County. His last official day is Wednesday.
