GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Tuesday, GQT Movies announced that it will be reopening its theater locations in October with an established safety plan.
The movie theater chain is able to reopen under recent Executive Orders from Governor Whitmer, which allow movie theaters and other businesses to reopen at a reduced capacity.
The chain will now prepare to reopen all 11 of its remaining theater locations across the state. The exception is the Cadillac location, which has been open since early August.
“We are pleased to be in a position to make today’s announcement of the schedule for our re-openings across the state. This has been a long time coming, and we are ready to get back to the job of serving our valued customers,” COO Matt McSparin said in a statement.
GQT locations will be opening on three consecutive weekends of Friday, October 9, 16, and 23. Officials say this will give them enough time to implement their safety plans and finalize staff training.
“GQT will open with the three S’s of our safety plan at the forefront of their efforts; social distance, sanitize, and safely following recommendations. Guest safety through clean and disinfected lobbies, bathrooms, concession areas, and auditoriums will be our priority,” McSparin said.
Social distancing measures will include customers being at least three seats apart from each other inside the viewing area, among others.
Officials also note that once the theaters reopen, tickets and concessions will be sold at a reduced price of anywhere between 10 and 25 percent. GQT Movies will also honor Goodrich Quality Theater Inc. gift cards, as the latter company filed bankruptcy earlier this summer.
