BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson High School graduate Sarah Haylett-Jones lost her life 12 years ago while serving in the line of duty as a deputy in the Monroe County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department.
She died in October 2008 at the age of 27, two days after a teenage driver hit her as she was directing traffic around a wrecker that was removing a stranded vehicle from a ravine near Bloomington, Indiana.
An annual fund raising event called “Sarah Irene’s Fall Harvest” will be held once again next weekend at 385 Otis Road.
The hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, 2019.
Pumpkins, indian corn, gourds and corn shocks will be among the items available. There will also be baked goods and Glei’s Orchard will donate the apple cider.
The proceeds will go to the Deputy Sarah Irene Haylett-Jones Memorial Fund and to the Branch Area Careers Center Criminal Justice Scholarship.
