BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Community School District is looking at altering schedules in light of students testing positive for COVID-19 and the shutdown of the district two weeks ago.
Various opinions were expressed during Monday’s in person Bronson School Board meeting which drew a large gathering of mask wearing audience members.
Before the school year began, the district offered several options for students. Students in Kindergarten through the fifth grade had the option of being in school every day or having on line instruction. Students in sixth through 12th grade had the options of face-to-face instruction, being on line at home or a combination of both.
But things fell apart two weeks ago when four students tested positive for COVID-19 and the district was forced to shut down for three days. Another positive test at the Junior/Senior High School was reported September 28 which was the first day classes resumed.
Superintendent Steve Wilson says in his monthly report on the district’s website that a number of students at the Junior/Senior high School had to be quarantined due to close contact with students who tested positive.
Nothing about a possible schedule change has been finalized yet and discussions are still being held in the district. The School Board’s next meeting is scheduled for November 2, 2020, but a special meeting maybe held before then.
