COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has confirmed a total of eight Branch County residents have passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.
Five Branch County deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported since the first of September and three in the past week.
C.H.A. Health Officer Rebecca Burns says two of the recent deaths were elderly residents who were not in a long term care facility.
There have been at least 46 COVID-19 related deaths in the C.H.A.’s jurisdiction including 26 in Hillsdale County and 12 in St. Joseph County.
The 12th St. Joseph County death was reported on Wednesday.
Six more new Branch County coronavirus cases were reported on Wednesday by the C.H.A. which brought the total number of cases reported since late March up to 601. That includes 157 cases that have been reported since the end of August.
St. Joseph County has had the most cases in the jurisdiction with 755 while Hillsdale County has had 346 cases.
