STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A suspect in a homicide which took place last Friday in Sturgis has been formally charged with first degree murder.
Bond for 35-year-old Erik Russell Davis was set at $750,000 during his arraignment on Monday in St. Joseph County District Court. Davis is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing in District Court on October 20 with a preliminary exam on October 27.
Davis was arrested last Friday night following the shooting death of a 33-year-old man in the 500 block of North Prospect Street.
Sturgis Police say officers were dispatched at 5:37 p.m. last Friday. When they arrived, officers found the shooting victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The unidentified shooting victim was taken to Sturgis Hospital where he later died.
