BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals look to go to 4-0 on Friday evening as they’ll travel to Harper Creek for an Interstate 8 contest.
The Cardinals have beaten Jackson Northwest, Marshall and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix while outscoring their opponents 102-44.
Harper Creek is 1-2. The Beavers defeated Livonia Clarenceville 36-12 but have Interstate 8 losses to Pennfield by a score of 26-20 and to Jackson Lumen Christi 20-7.
With Calhoun County being one of the counties where a horse tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis, the game has been moved up to 5:00 p.m.. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB will start at 4:30 p.m..
Harper Creek defeated Coldwater in the J.V. game 38-6. The lone score for the Cards was a Chase Lieby 48 yard touchdown catch from Hunter Munson. The J.V. Cards are now 2-1-1.
Meanwhile, the Union City Chargers will host the Bronson Vikings Friday night in a Branch County showdown. The Chargers are 1-2 following their 52-36 win last Saturday at Concord. Bronson is 0-2 but they scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter last Saturday in their 46-30 loss at Homer. The Chargers beat the Vikings 28-23 in a back-and-forth game last season. Kickoff at Alumni Field is set for 5:00 p.m. as well.
It’s Homecoming at Quincy as the Orioles host Jonesville in a 7:00 p.m. contest. Jonesville won the 2019 contest 30-22. The Orioles are 1-2 after they lost to Addison 44-0 last Friday. Jonesville defeated Quincy in Thursday’s J.V. game 40-8.
In one area game on Thursday night, Centreville won the Bull Horn Trophy as the Bulldogs shut out Mendon 36-0.
In 8 person football on Friday, Tekonsha plays at Waldron.
