COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A bid of $42,180 from Braman Roofing to repair and replace the roof at the old Putnam Funeral Home was approved by the Coldwater City Council Monday night.
The City recently acquired the building and property located at 11 East Chicago Street with plans to have the landscaping and perimeter of the building cleaned up.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his memo to the Council that in addition, “City staff would like to have the roof replaced as soon as possible to mitigate further damage to the building.” It’s hoped the work can be done before the onset of winter.
Baker added the City solicited bids to remove and replace the asphalt shingled roof of the three-story building but finding a company to complete the work within a short time frame was difficult.
He says the project would be paid for through the City’s Blight Elimination fund in the Planning Department budget.
Also on Monday night, the City Council approved Mayor Tom Kramer’s appointment of Salwa Alsuraimi to the City of Coldwater Planning Commission. She will fill the partial term vacancy left by Jessika Cole which expires in May 2022.
