COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the second straight year, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has received a grant to buy lock boxes for the community as well as educational materials in an effort to keep children and teenagers away from marijuana.
To kick off the Lock It Up campaign, the C.H.A. ordered 900 boxes to provide to all three counties with the goal to be for adults to keep marijuana out of the hands of kids.
The lock boxes are provided free of charge and come with a keyed lock. Over 1,500 residents in the three county jurisdiction have medical marijuana licenses.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns from the Community Health Agency says “This does not take into account the number of people who use recreational marijuana, which could also be potentially accessible to kids and teens.”
If you or someone you know would be interested in getting a lock box from the Community Health Agency, go to their website www.BHSJ.org for more information.
