COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker reported to the City Council on Monday night that ground has been broken for a second home on Thompson Boulevard.
He said it was an extension of an existing grant through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
The sale of the first modular home at 74 Thompson Boulevard was approved by the Council in July.
The home was financed by a re-payable grant through M.S.H.D.A. and was sold for $209,000.
Baker said earlier this summer they were working with M.S.H.D.A. to turn the proceeds from the sale of the property at 74 Thompson Boulevard into a second home. He said the second home would not have the same income requirements as the first one.
Coldwater was the first community in the state to receive funding through the state program since it met the necessary criteria of having a workforce housing shortage, is an income-eligible community and has available sites for in-fill or new construction.
