COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A consultant who has been hired by Branch County to look into the operations and staffing of the Branch 911 Center met with the 911 Board for the first time during Wednesday’s virtual meeting.
Kevin Kearns from IXP Corporation of Seattle, Washington began working last week and he plans to be in Branch County through the end of the week.
He told the board the project has gone well so far and that the 911 staff has been cooperative.
Kearns said there was no timeline for his report to the county but he was told, “the sooner the better”. He was in the process of starting to frame up a report and hopes to have the ability to do a “brief out” during a workshop session next week.
IXP has been hired to review the operation and to make a recommendation to the Branch County Board of Commissioners for potential changes in operations, use of technology, employee training and employee scheduling.
Meanwhile, Assistant 911 Director Jean Ratkowski reported they currently have eight dispatchers with another one in training. When that person finishes training, Central Dispatch would have two openings left to fill.
