COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A portion of South Sprague Street near the Branch County Fairgrounds that is in bad shape is going to get fixed following action Monday night by the Coldwater City Council.
The Council approved a bid of just over $71,500 from Thompson Construction of Coldwater for the milling and repaving of South Sprague from the railroad crossing south to Garfield Avenue.
City Manager Keith Baker said in his memo to the Council that this street was chosen due in part to its deteriorated condition. He also said the lack of any impacted utilities would simplify the project and South Sprague was also the southern entrance into the City and hospital.
Thompson’s bid was one of two submitted. The second bid of over $82,800 was from Excell Paving of Coldwater.
Thompson Construction recently completed the reconstruction of Allen Avenue.
Baker says the work can be completed yet this year. The project is being budgeted in the 2020-21 fiscal year.
