BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals will be looking to firm up their chances of getting a first round home playoff game on Friday night as they’ll make the long trip to Hastings for an Interstate 8 Conference game.
Both the Saxons and the Cardinals are 3-1. Coldwater will be trying to bounce back after last Friday’s 28-7 loss at Harper Creek. Hastings is trying to finish above .500 for the first time since 2012. The Saxons have won three straight games after a opening night loss to Parma Western.
The Cardinals are third in their district in playoff points with two games left in the regular season.
Coverage of Friday night’s game starts at 6:30 p.m. on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB.
The Bronson Vikings will be trying to win back-to-back games for the first time since 2015 on Friday night when they host Branch County rival Quincy. The Vikings claimed “The Shield” with a 24-6 victory over Union City last week. Bronson is 1-2. Quincy has been shutout in their last two games and are 1-3.
After losing to Bronson last week, the 1-3 Union City Chargers will travel to Springport on Friday night.
In eight person football, the 3-1 Tekonsha Indians will host Battle Creek St. Philip.
In junior varsity football on Thursday night, Hastings defeated Coldwater 24-6. The J.V. Cards are now 2-2-1. Their lone TD was scored by Hunter Munson.
