CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP (WTVB) – A two vehicle crash late Monday afternoon at the intersection of South Fremont and Copeland Roads sent a woman from Edon, Ohio to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash took place just after 5:00 p.m. when two pick up trucks collided.
One of the pick ups ended up in a field. The Sheriff’s Department says 36-year-old Ryan Diveley of Kokomo, Indiana failed to yield for a stop sign and collided with the other pickup which was driven by 45-year-old Tammy Shafer.
Investigators think the cause of the crash was the Diveley vehicle was hauling trailer cargo too heavy for the pickup, pushing the Diveley vehicle through stop sign and causing the accident.
Diveley was cited for careless driving due to the known weight of the cargo that caused accident.
Shafer was taken to Promedica by family members. Seat belts were used by those involved in the crash.
