BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The latest report from the Calhoun County Public Health Department show that five more county residents have passed away since last Thursday after testing positive for COVID-19.
That brought the county’s death toll up to 53 since the first death was reported on April 3. The recent surge in deaths comes after no deaths were reported between October 5 and 15.
Tuesday’s report also showed the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Calhoun County since the pandemic began has gone up to 2,068 with almost 800 new cases reported so far during October.
Statistics show 1,453 persons who tested positive have been released from isolation while 1,017 have been released from quarantine.
Out of the 141 total hospitalizations, 29 coronavirus patients are currently in a Calhoun County medical care facility.
