UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The COVID-19 virus is starting to become this year’s holiday Grinch.
The Union City Chamber of Commerce has announced that they have been forced to make what’s being called a difficult decision and cancel this year’s Santa Parade as COVID-19 is still surfacing in the area.
The parade was scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 28.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services warnings regarding COVID-19 outbreaks related to large group events and gatherings along with the recent increase of cases in Calhoun and Branch Counties played roles in the final decision to cancel this year’s parade.
The Union City Chamber will still sponsor a Christmas Window Decorating Contest and participate in National Small Business Saturday to be held on November 28 this year.
