GRAND HAVEN, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals will play a sixth regular season game after all. After Friday night’s home game against Parma Western was cancelled, Coldwater Athletic Director Todd Farmer announced hours later that the varsity football team will play at Grand Haven on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m..
Grand Haven was originally scheduled to face Battle Creek Central on Friday night but that game was also cancelled.
The announcement of the cancellation of the Cardinals game with the Panthers came a day after the Parma Western School District went to virtual learning for the next two weeks. M-Live reports three elementary students and a high school front office employee tested positive for COVID-19. The junior varsity game between Coldwater and Parma Western that was scheduled for Thursday night was cancelled as well.
Farmer said in an e-mail at noon that, “The Varsity football game will not be played tonight (Friday night) due to the abundance of concern for the health of the Coldwater players.”
