GRAND HAVEN, MI (WTVB) – In a hastily scheduled game, the Coldwater Cardinals concluded the regular season with a 27-14 victory on Saturday afternoon at Division One Grand Haven.
Deandre Douglas and Cam Torres combined for 311 yards in rushing as the Cardinals improved to 4-2.
Douglas had 22 carries for 168 yards and a touchdown while Torres had 15 carries for 143 yards and two touchdown.
Aiden Marsden scored the other Coldwater touchdown.
Torres scored the only Coldwater touchdown of the first half from four yards out as Grand Haven led 14-7 at halftime.
He tied the game on the first play from scrimmage in the second half as he scampered 50 yards to pay dirt. Douglas put the Cardinals ahead for good with 3:58 left in the third quarter on a two yard run. Marsden’s 10 yard touchdown with 1:48 left in the game capped the scoring.
Coldwater was originally scheduled to play at home on Friday night against Parma Western. But the game was cancelled after the Western school district had to go to virtual learning due to a number of COVID-19 cases. Grand Haven also had a game with Battle Creek Central called off on Friday night.
