COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County will be seeking a grant to receive funds through the CARES Act.
The Branch County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution on Tuesday that calls for County Administrator Bud Norman to apply for a Community Development Block Grant of just under $312,000.
The resolution stated the funds will be used to reimburse unexpected costs associated with COVID-19.
The Michigan Strategic Fund has invited Counties throughout the state to accept Community Development Block Grant Program funds to support C.D.B.G. CARES Funding.
As part of the criteria, the resolution says 15 percent of Branch County residents are considered below poverty as determined by the census data provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
