BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Thanks to the shortened six game regular season, everybody that is able to will be seeing action this weekend in the opening round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs.
Coldwater, Bronson and Tekonsha will be on their home fields in the opening round.
Coldwater will host long time rival Sturgis in a Division Three game on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.. The Cardinals are 4-2 while the Trojans are 3-3. The two schools have not faced each other in football since 2013 after Coldwater became a member of the Interstate 8 Conference and the Trojans joined the Wolverine Conference. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB begins at 6:30 p.m..
Quincy, Bronson and Union City will also play their opening round games at 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
In Division Six, Quincy travels to Adrian Madison. The Orioles are 2-4 while Madison is 5-1.
In Division Seven, the 3-2 Bronson Vikings will host 3-3 Delton Kellogg. The resurgent Vikings will take a three game winning streak into the game which is their longest winning streak since 2012.
Also in Division Seven, the Union City Chargers play at Homer. The Chargers are 2-4 while the Trojans are 4-2. It will be a rematch of a week #2 game which saw Homer defeat Union City 33-12.
In the Division Two playoffs for Eight Person Football, Tekonsha will host Waldron on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.. Both teams are 4-2.
