BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The football season ended for Quincy, Bronson and Union City on Friday night in the opening round of the M.H.S.A.A playoffs.
Quincy came close to scoring an upset in their Division Six playoff game at Adrian Madison before losing 34-30 as Rovahn Roberts scored the winning 27-yard touchdown with 1:45 left.
The Orioles had leads of 22-13 at halftime and 30-21 early in the fourth quarter before Madison rallied for two scores in the final 5:13 of the game.
Quincy quarterback Tae’Sean Bodley ran for two touchdowns and passed for another. Kyler Economou caught a 15 yard TD pass while Landen Kelley scored from three yards out. Kelley wound up with 133 yards rushing, while Tre’Von Bodley accounted for 122 yards on the ground. Economou led the defense with eight tackles.
Rovahn Roberts had a big night for Madison as he rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Madison had a slight edge in total yards 392-367. Quincy got all but 15 yards of their offense on the ground.
In Division Seven, Bronson lost at home to Delton-Kellogg 40-18 while Union City lost at Homer 40-6.
Bronson finished their best season since 2012 at 3-3. Both Quincy and Union City ended the season at 2-5.
