UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City Community School Superintendent Ronna Steel announced on Tuesday afternoon that the district will have to go to virtual learning through November 13 due to staff being in quarantine.
Steel says over the last few weeks they have had multiple staff members in quarantine due to contact with a person or persons that are positive for COVID-19.
She said, “Although we do not currently have any staff that have tested positive we do have several out waiting for tests. In addition, we were informed that we have a student at the high school that tested positive.”
According to Steel, the district has five high school staff members and nine students that have been identified as a close contact to this case. Those identified students parents are being contacted by both the school and the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
If you do not receive a call from the health department or a school district staff member, you are not impacted and you are not required to quarantine.
Students will be coming home Tuesday with their technology and locker items. Additional information will be coming later this week from the building principals.
