COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – During normal times, most Branch County employees are recognized for their years of service or when they depart during a Board of Commissioners meeting but things have not been normal since March.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Commissioners have been forced to meet virtually since late March and there are no signs in person meetings will resume any time in the near future.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told Commissioners during their work session on Thursday employees who are recognized for their years of service are honored in five year increments.
But none have taken place since March when the pandemic hit. Norman said they were hoping to recognize 16 employees during an in person Commissioners meeting but things have not worked out due to the number of COVID-19 cases.
Eight of the employees were going to be recognized for their years of service while the other eight were departing.
Norman told Commissioners he will present some options to them at a future meeting as to how they want to proceed.
