READING TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – An unidentified man was killed in a motorcycle crash that was reported to the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department on Friday morning.
Deputies and rescue crews were dispatched to Bankers Road west of South Allen Road north of Reading at about 7:30 a.m. after a passerby saw the wreckage.
It was initially not known when the crash took place.
The Sheriff’s Department says the motorcyclist was heading west on Bankers Road when he struck a concrete bridge, lost control and went off the road before coming to rest in the woods.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Lenawee Hillsdale County Medical Examiner’s Office in trying to identify the fatal victim.
The Sheriff’s Department says he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash which is still under investigation. They were assisted by the Reading Township Fire Department and the Reading Emergency Unit.
An area of Bankers Road and South Allen Road had to be shut down for over three hours due to the investigation into the crash.
