COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With the surge of COVID-19 cases in Branch County continuing, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital has announced a temporarily tightening of its visitor restrictions.
Hospital officials say the change is in accordance with guidance from the Michigan governor’s office and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Since June, ProMedica had been implementing a level 2 visitor restriction. But there has been significant community spread of COVID-19 as well as increased admissions and emergency department visits that are creating capacity issues.
Until further notice, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital is at Level 3 for visitor restrictions which means the following rules apply:
• No inpatient visitors are permitted
• No emergency department guests are permitted
• No guests are permitted for ambulatory testing and procedures
As an exception, labor and delivery patients will be permitted to have one in-person visitor for the duration of the stay.
Exceptions for other extraordinary circumstances requiring an in-person visit are possible and would be determined on a case-by-case basis.
ProMedica will continue to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and make appropriate adjustments to visitor restrictions to comply with state requirements or ordinances and to help ensure the safety of all in its facilities.
