BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – According to unofficial write in results from the General Election that were released on Monday by the Branch County Clerks Office, a race for a Matteson Township trustee seat was temporarily decided by two votes.
Ted Stoll got 27 votes on Election Day while Brian Reed got 25 votes. Both were write in candidates.
Pending official certification, Stoll won election as Matteson Township trustee as did Richard Easterday who was on the ballot and finished first with 526 votes.
All three are Republicans. The top two finishers in the balloting were elected.
Meanwhile, in the rematch for Sherwood Township Supervisor, current Supervisor James Smith lost to challenger Aaron Robbins 684-152. Smith ran as a write-in candidate for the four year term against Robbins who was on the ballot for the general election after defeating Smith in the August Primary.
The Branch County Board of Canvassers were expected to wrap up their work and make all of the Election Day results official on Monday afternoon.
