QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy Superintendent Marc Kramer told the district’s School Board of Education on Monday night that while K-8 students are scheduled to return to in person learning on November 30, that could change.
He said it depends on the COVID-19 situation in Branch County and the information they get from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
All buildings in the Quincy School District are currently in remote learning until November 30 due to staff quarantines.
Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon issued an Emergency Order on Sunday which suspended all in-person activities for students in grades 9-12 for three weeks starting on Wednesday and ending on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
In order to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in the community and to make conditions more favorable for in person learning, local health officials are asking everyone to avoid gathering with others outside of their immediate family over the next several weeks.
Kramer says the goal of their school system is to return to full in-person learning as soon as possible.
