COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – New data released on Monday by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services shows Branch County is still a COVID-19 hot spot heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.
The seven-day average positive rate shows Branch County was one of 20 counties at Level D with a daily positive rate of 19-point-one percent for tests conducted between November 14 and 20.
Of the 2,449 tests conducted in Branch County, a total of 467 tests came back positive.
Branch County’s level is just below Level E which is the highest risk level on the M.D.H.H.S. scale.
Hillsdale County with a daily positive test rate of 22 percent is one of six counties in the state at the high risk level.
Meanwhile, Branch County is second among 83 Michigan counties when it comes to the metric of new cases per one million people.
Overall, new cases in the State of Michigan went up by over 50,000 last week which was a new record. But the state wide rate for positive tests went down slightly from 13-point-four to 13 percent.
