QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – With Republic Services closing its Coldwater transfer station, Brock Badders Property LLC plans to reopen the former Quincy transfer station on Ridge Road later this month.
The City of Coldwater announced on Tuesday that Republic was closing its transfer station on Treat Avenue near Garfield Road at the end of the business day on Saturday, December 19. The Coldwater transfer station had just been opened for three months.
The Village of Quincy decided to sell the 37 acre transfer station in June because it has only generated about $3,000 in revenue for the village over the last couple of years. Village Manager Brittany Butler said at the time it was not enough money to cover their costs.
The Village Council approved the sale of the property to Badders in October.
Badders says the closing on the Ridge Road property is scheduled to take place this week and he plans to reopen the transfer station on Saturday the 19th.
He says they plan to be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m..
Republic Waste Services used to operate the Quincy transfer station before it closed on September 3. They began operating the Coldwater transfer station two days later.
