STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department with the help of On-Star recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a woman from Barryton, Michigan on Sunday.
Sheriff Rodney Robinson says deputies responded to 100 North in Scott Township on a report of a vehicle theft. The initial investigation indicated that someone entered a detached unlocked garage on the property and took a black 2020 Chevy Tahoe that reportedly had the keys inside at the time of the theft.
During the course of the investigation, deputies contacted On-Star who assisted with locating the vehicle via GPS. The vehicle was located traveling west on Orland Road near County Road 225 West.
Responding units coordinated an interception of the vehicle with On-Star and were able to find it on County Road 500 West.
45-year-old Bridgett Marie Nash was taken into custody and booked into the Steuben County Jail on a preliminary charge of theft of a motor vehicle.
The vehicle was seized and processed by the Sheriff’s Office before being released back to the owner undamaged.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens not to leave vehicles unsecured with the keys easily accessible. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office along with On-Star were the Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, Angola Police and the Orland Town Marshal’s Office.
