EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced on Wednesday that the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will allow a limited numbers of spectators for the final rounds of the M.H.S.A.A. Football and Girls Volleyball Tournaments.
Football teams will receive 125 tickets, to be divided among game participants for purchase by immediate family members via the GoFan digital ticketing platform. Volleyball teams will receive 50 tickets, also to be purchased by immediate family via GoFan.
Those lucky enough to be in attendance will have to follow certain protocols. Spectators in different households must be spaced out by six feet and maintain distancing at all other times including when they arrive and leave the game facility. Face masks must also be worn at all times.
Football restarts Saturday while the girls volleyball tournament will restart next Tuesday with Quarterfinal matchess. Bronson will face Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central in a Division Three quarterfinal at Whitmore Lake. The Girls Volleyball Semifinals and Finals will be held January 14, 15 and 16 at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
The Lower Peninsula Girls Swimming & Diving Finals will be held on January 15 and 16 at three sites. However, spectators will not be allowed at those events because those meets will include much higher numbers of participants and adding spectators would push the total number of people in attendance past what is considered safe for indoor events. Coldwater’s Mia Rzepka, Charlotte Calhoun and Jillian McKinley will compete in the Division Three Finals at Lake Orion.
