COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation in Coldwater has announced that the first COVID-19 vaccinations for residents and employees have been administered.
Among the first of the residents to get a vaccine was 101-year-old Vivian Hutchins. She has been a Maple Lawn resident for just over a year.
Also among the first of residents to receive the vaccine were Rose Shettler and Shirley Sechler. Shettler has been a resident at the facility for three years and Sechler has been a resident for a year and a half.
Among the first of employees to receive the vaccine was Scott Starr who has worked in the dietary department at Maple Lawn for 10 years. Administrator Jayne Sabaitis says “We are hoping that taking this step to fight the pandemic will be one step closer to being able to have families and friends visit again.”
Maple Lawn has been on a locked-down status since last March with only a few weeks of in-person resident visitors in their courtyard and window visits.
