WHITMORE LAKE, MI (WTVB) – After a two month wait, the Bronson Vikings will finally get a chance to face Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central on Tuesday night as the Michigan High School Athletic Association Girls Volleyball tournament resumes with quarterfinal matches.
The tournament was halted on November 15 when the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued a state wide pause in high school sports due to a rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
Bronson advanced to the Division Three quarterfinals by first winning the district tournament on their home floor and then defeating Grass Lake and Brooklyn Columbia Central in the regional tournament. The Vikings have not lost a game so far in the post season.
Tuesday’s match features two of the most successful volleyball programs in the State of Michigan. Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central has won four state championships since 2007 while Bronson has claimed five titles since 2009.
Coverage of Tuesday’s match starts at 5:45 p.m. on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB.
