COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack expressed his displeasure to the 911 Advisory Board on Wednesday with the action taken by the Branch County Board of Commissioners concerning an updated 911 Service Plan.
The Commissioners approved the plan on a 4-1 vote Tuesday but Pollack felt it was rushed through without input from 911 Board members.
Pollack did not buy the argument that discussions have gone on long enough.
The Sheriff expressed a desire to see the 911 Board continue to be active and involved.
Commissioner Jon Houtz said during Tuesday’s Commissioners meeting he and a few of the 911 shareholders went over the plan on Monday for almost two hours.
He said they then sent issues and concerns to Branch County attorney Bonnie Toskey for her review.
Toskey said she went over a list of 22 questions regarding wording and provisions in the plan. She spent nearly a half hour detailing her findings to the Commissioners.
Commissioner Leonard Kolcz objected to action being taken on “something they had not seen in writing”. He added the board was violating its own rules by not discussing it in a work session. But Houtz pointed out discussions have been going on for a year-and-a-half and it was time to move forward. .
