LANSING, MI (WTVB) – While still in double digits and well above the state’s recommendation, Branch County’s rate of positive COVID-19 cases went down for the week of January 9 through 15.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says of the 1,134 Branch County tests administered during that time, 168 came back positive which resulted in a positivity rate of 14-point-8 percent. It was at 18 percent for the week of January 2 through 8.
Branch County’s level of positive tests went down to Level C which is the third highest of the six levels used by the state in its metric to assess coronavirus risk.
Hillsdale County had the highest positive rate in the state at 18-point-1 percent. St. Joseph County was at 10-point-7 percent while Calhoun was at eight-point-three.
The goal for counties is to have a positive rate of five percent or lower and 62 of the 83 Michigan counties were still above that level last week. On the positive side, 69 counties had a positive rate of 10 percent or lower which is the most counties in that category since early November.
Your in Branch County folks. You know your last in live for the things we need and first in line for the things other counties won’t accept. Just wait!
