QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In giving their monthly approval to the district’s extended learning plan on Monday night, the Quincy Community School District Board of Education gave the district permission to return to person-to-person instruction for all students on February 1.
Students in grades K-5 returned to in person instruction last Monday, January 11 while students in grades 6-12 went back to the hybrid model on that same day.
Superintendent Marc Kramer felt students who are falling behind need to get back to the classroom.
Quincy Education Association President Ritch Adams said a lot of teachers are very concerned February 1 is to early.
The action by the board came after a nearly hour long discussion during which it was pointed out the district can push back the date for the return of person-to-person instruction if it was felt it was necessary.
For parents who don’t feel comfortable about having their youngster in a classroom, the district will still be offering a fully virtual program for the second semester.
