COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man who was charged with shooting his German Shepard last June entered into a plea agreement with Branch County Prosecutors on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
21-year-old Alex James Carr entered guilty pleas to charges of animal cruelty or abandoning and an amended count of attempted animal torturing.
An original charge of animal torturing was dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for his plea. Sentencing has been scheduled for March 8.
The Sheriff’s Department says Carr was living in Bethel Township at the time of the incident.
The injured female dog named “Noel” was taken care of by Animal Aid of Branch County after being shot in the head.
According to court documents, Carr was accused of shooting his dog after it chewed on his child’s toys and clothes.
