COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 on Tuesday to formally approve an amendment to the recently adopted 911 Service Plan to reflect that the 911 Board is to be comprised of 10 members which would be the same as the previous plan.
County Administrator Bud Norman says the revised plan was drafted by legal counsel using a template and they inadvertently made a mistake on how many Board members there would be.
In approving the amendment, the Commissioners also went along with a request from the 911 Board to have an option for an 11th board member from the Fire Chiefs Council, if fire services are not represented.
Norman said during last Thursday’s work session for the Commissioners that the 911 Board will be part of the process in the hiring of the next Branch County 911/Central Dispatch Director.
The Commissioners also formally approved a request from Circuit Court Judge Bill O’Grady and Friend of the Court Referee Lona Julien to move the Child Support Coordinator position from the Prosecutor’s office to Friend Of the Court.
Court officials say the request is being made to better serve the community and to free up time in the Prosecutors Office. Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien supported the transfer.
