BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Slick driving conditions caused by a overnight combination of snow and freezing drizzle led to the first snow day of the school year in the Coldwater, Quincy and Bronson school districts on Tuesday.
All of the districts started with a two hour delay but it was later determined road conditions were not safe enough for their buses.
The Union City Community School District remained open.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory from Monday night until early Tuesday afternoon. With temperatures hovering around freezing, Branch County did not get as much snow as expected but freezing drizzle made for slick driving conditions.
Property damage accidents were reported at U.S. 12 and Ridge Road and on I-69 in Girard Township early Tuesday morning.
A crash on U.S. 12 near Wheeler Road just before 9:00 a.m. was reported as a personal injury accident. Bronson firefighters and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched.
