COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Following the expiration of paid sick leave provisions under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, the Branch Intermediate School District Board of Trustees passed a resolution during their meeting on Wednesday which extends the expiration date to March 31 for benefits under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and the Emergency Family Medical Leave Expansion Act.
Superintendent Kris Jenkins said the provisions gives every employee up to 80 hours of paid sick time due to COVID-19.
She added it was felt this was the fair thing to do.
According to the resolution, employees who exhaust time allowed under the EPSLA and who are subject to a quarantine or isolation order, with or without symptoms, will be allowed to use their personal sick bank time to cover their absence from work.
